before there are leaves

it's not winter anymore.  grass has started to grow.  but it's not quite spring yet either.  an in between time.  as the season progresses the almond trees change dramatically.  acres of skeleton like trees become lush forests full with pink blossoms.  the hives take on a similar transformation.  small and quiet from november to january, within six weeks are bursting out of their boxes.  a confusion of bees in the air.
